What is a quadrotor?

Since I started my senior project I've had several people ask me what the heck is a quadrotor.

Well, in short, it's a helicopter with four "rotors" (the spinney things on top). The adventurous might check out the wikipedia quadrotor page.

I'm going to build one of those (probably something similar to one of the first two pics).
